What Parents Say
Some recent comments from our parents and carers…
"I am delighted with the level of care and education which my child receives at Looby Lou's. My first child attended the nursery 7 years ago and I did not hesitate bringing my second child back.
They are very supportive of every child's needs, emotional, physical and educational.
They inform parents of what is happening in the nursery through social media and regular emails and when the child is dropped off and picked up.
They regularly consult parents with regards to changes to the menu etc and encourage parent/carer involvement with special events at the nursery.
They are well informed with regards to safeguarding training, delivered by the council and other training to further develop their knowledge to ensure that they are up to date with current policies and procedures.
They regularly have parent meetings where the key carer advises the parent of the child's current development in line with EYFS programme and encourage the parent to support the child's development in areas of need.
Looby Lou's take the children on outings to see residents at a local retirement home, to sensory play and outdoors to parks.
The entire team are fantastic and supportive, friendly and supportive of every child's needs."
"All 3 children have been happy to go into nursery which is the important thing for us! They talk fondly about staff members, tell us little stories about their day and seem comfortable around everyone.
Communication is good. We feel confident that nursery will call us if there is a problem. We are also kept up to date about our child’s development.
The staff seem happy and there is low turnover, which suggests they’re mostly happy and which is good for the children (i.e. continuity of care and forming relationships).
Staff try to make things exciting for the kids and teach them new things and give them new experiences (e.g. making things for events like Christmas, Halloween etc; teaching them about things like Chinese New Year and introducing them to traditional Chinese food).
Security is good e.g. no phone policies are strictly enforced, Looby Lou’s carry out careful checks the few times we’ve asked family members to collect children."
"My son has been attending the nursery from September and I am incredibly impressed with how well the staff have supported my little boy with this transition. Hugo is very settled at nursery and he is obviously happy to be there. The staff go above and beyond to care for my son and since he has been at nursery I have noticed a real change in his confidence!
I feel that Hugo has all of his needs met at Looby Lou’s - from a variety of food served at meal times, to a broad range of activities completed during the day! It is lovely to see photos of Hugo on the Learning Journals app where he is doing so many different things: playing outside, exploring the tuff trays, attending trips or doing crafts.
I also really appreciate the time the staff put in to ensuring parents are actively involved in the nursery - the recent Mother’s Day afternoon tea was a lovely way to see how Hugo is at nursery and the Christmas fair was a great example of the strong community spirit present at Looby Lou’s.
It is great that all staff know Hugo by name, as well as his little characteristics (for example, he waves at everyone!). I have recommended Looby Lou’s to a range of friends who have children in childcare and wouldn’t hesitate to send any future children to Looby Lou’s - I am continually impressed!"
"Our 10 month old baby Willow has been at Looby Lou’s in cruisers 3 months, during that time we have seen her development accelerated.
Our childcare provider allows us for the childcare we need to fit around our busy working patterns.
At the end of the day I am fully briefed by staff and given a sheet with all her information from nappies, naps, food, bottles and playtime overview.
During the day my calls are promptly answered and Emma always has up to date information by the minute, on what Willow is doing e.g how long she has been asleep for.
Communication between staff is fluid, any messages I have either on the phone or from morning drop offs is fed across staff in cruisers and this is clear from the staff I speak to.
Small bumps from taking a tumble (only once has this happened) are promptly noted on an accident form with all the relevant information and I am briefed fully.
Lizzi has been a central figure in Willow’s care and is incredibly observant of all of Willow’s characteristics and confidently identifies her needs providing a clear, personalised plan on how to further Willow’s development.
The learning app is an interactive platform where Willow’s learning outcomes are clearly evidenced and this varies day to day according to what she has done that day. Any queries or comments can be seen by staff and acted upon, Willow’s activities and learning are heavily influenced by equality & diversity and we are delighted for Willow to be learning about Chinese new year, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day etc.
We have commented that we love Willow to be involved in Art and reading, she is making more pieces this is being documented on the app with photos of her with paint brushes and creative props in her hand and lots of lovely take home gifts.
Collaborative pieces of artwork made in the nursery are displayed in the foyer where I can also see updated information regarding menus, current staff info, health & illness policy & regularly seasonal relevant information.
We have seen improvements in Willow’s appetite and eating skills thanks to the consistency of skilled staff and a broad healthy menu provided by the cafe.
We have seen Willow sleeping better thanks to the nurturing experienced staff and set, appropriate nap times. She is overall more confident and happy to spend longer periods of time with other people and is now singing, clapping and crawling.
Overall we are impressed by Looby Lou’s and have definitely made the right choice using them as our childcare provider."
